Norfolk man arrested in two sexual assault cases

NORFOLK, VA – A 41-year-old man has been identified as the suspect in two different sexual assault cases in Norfolk.

Thomas J. Obryen, 41, has been charged with forcible sodomy, aggravated malicious wounding, malicious wounding, abduction, and use of a firearm.

The first incident took place on March 26th, around 3:40 a.m., when police responded to a call in the 4600 block of Mayflower Road. The victim was found with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and reported being sexually assaulted.

The second incident was reported on April 27th, around 3:55 a.m., in the 6400 block of Chesapeake Boulevard. Another victim reported being sexually assaulted by a man.

Obryen was taken into custody as a result of the investigations and is currently being held in Norfolk City Jail without bond.
