Nurse Wins $50k on Maryland Lottery Ticket

Money - Lottery winning jackpot.

BALTIMORE, MARYLAND – A Montgomery County nurse claimed his second $50,000 Bonus Match 5 top prize, crediting his repeat win to lucky numbers.

The winner, a 58-year-old who opted for the name “Mr. Happy” for anonymity, made his second win on August 16. He bought the ticket during a work break at State Line Market, along with snacks and coffee. Later that night, the married father and grandfather confirmed his win by scanning his $6 ticket on the Lottery app.

“When it read ‘See Lottery,’ I knew I had won big,” he said, referencing the same message displayed during his previous win.

Mr. Happy plans to use his prize for his sons’ tuition and for paying off home mortgage and bills. The ticket was sold at State Line Market at 7817 Eastern Avenue Northwest in Silver Spring, which will receive a $500 bonus for selling the top-prize ticket. This marks the 23rd top-prize ticket sold in the Bonus Match 5 game this year.
