NEW YORK CITY, NY – A New York City Department of Correction officer, Vinette Tucker-Frederick, 41, has been recently indicted for falsifying suicide prevention training records for 74 fellow officers. Tucker-Frederick, who has been a Correction Officer for nine years and was assigned to the Anna M. Kross Center (AMKC), faces charges of Tampering with Public Records, Identity Theft, and Official Misconduct.
During a crisis of inmate suicides in 2021, amid pressure to increase the number of officers taking a suicide prevention refresher course, Tucker-Frederick allegedly directed a group of officers to complete the training on behalf of their colleagues who were on leave or off duty.
Charged with 74 counts each of first-degree Tampering with Public Records and first-degree Identity Theft, as well as Official Misconduct, Tucker-Frederick was arraigned before Bronx Supreme Court Justice George Villegas. She is due back in court on September 12.
