QUEENS, NY – A 68-year-old woman was violently robbed of her necklace in Queens earlier this month, and the New York City Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspects. According to police reports, the robbery took place on April 8, 2023, at around 9:41 am near the intersection of 161 Street and Union Turnpike.
The victim was approached by two individuals riding a red and black motorized scooter. The passenger attempted to take the victim’s purse, but when unsuccessful, he quickly got off the scooter and ripped a $3,000 chain from the victim’s neck, knocking her to the ground.
The suspects fled on the motorized scooter, and the victim was taken to NYC Health and Hospitals/Queens for treatment of an injury to the back of her head.
Surveillance photos of the suspects and the scooter have been released by the police. The first suspect, who was operating the scooter, is described as a light-skinned male with a medium build, wearing a black mask, black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, and white sneakers.
The second suspect, who was a passenger, is described as a light-skinned male with a thin build, wearing a black mask, a blue jacket with white stripes on the sleeves and a black hood, black pants, and black gloves.
