NYPD identifies woman found dead in Harlem trash compactor

NEW YORK, NY – The NYPD has identified the body of a woman found dead inside a trash compactor in a Harlem apartment building.

On Friday, at approximately 9:55 a.m., police received a 911 call reporting an unresponsive individual at 107 East 126 Street in the jurisdiction of the 25th Precinct. Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered an unconscious and unidentified female in her thirties.

The woman was found without any clothing in a trash compactor room on the second floor. Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene but pronounced the woman deceased.

The exact cause of death will be determined by the Medical Examiner. The deceased individual has been identified as Gloria Morel, a 33-year-old female residing at 2549 Decatur Avenue in the Bronx, NY.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death is still ongoing.
