NYPD investigating Upper East Side subway attack

NEW YORK CITY, NY – A man was attacked on a southbound “6” train at the Lexington Avenue and East 77 Street subway station on Thursday, May 4, 2023.

The incident began with a verbal dispute between the suspect and a 55-year-old male passenger.

The confrontation escalated quickly, resulting in the suspect striking the victim about the face and head with an unknown object.

The victim, who sustained lacerations to his left cheek, was promptly transported to Lenox Hill Hospital, where he remains in stable condition.
