NYPD officer charged for fleeing scene of accident

NEW YORK, NY – A New York City Police officer was arrested in Queens on Saturday. The NYPD reported that Jonathan Altamirano, 33, was arrested shortly after 7 pm.

Altamirano serves at the city impound. He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with injury.

According to the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office, Altamirano started working for the NYPD in January of 2012 and earns $112,000 annually.

He previously served with the 94th Precinct.

In July of 2018, he was exonerated of a claim that he had abused his authority and assaulted a 32-year-old white male.
