NYPD Searching for Fugitive Murder Suspect

NEW YORK CITY - NYPD police cars.

BRONX, NY – The New York City Police Department has issued a public appeal for information concerning a homicide that escalated from an assault within the 40th Precinct. The police are actively seeking Jorrell Shoals, a 37-year-old male, in connection with the incident.

The initial assault occurred on Sunday, June 23, at 10:54 PM, at 526B Willis Avenue. Officers responded to a 911 call reporting an assault in progress. Upon arrival, they found 54-year-old Ramon Cruz with a facial laceration. Cruz, who was homeless, was transported to NYC Health and Hospitals/Lincoln in stable condition.

Sadly, on Wednesday, July 17, Cruz succumbed to his injuries, leading the Medical Examiner to classify the case as a homicide. Shoals, identified as the suspect, is described as having a medium complexion, standing 5 feet 9 inches tall, and weighing 180 pounds. The NYPD is urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in the ongoing investigation.
