NYPD’s Hate Crime Task Force Investigating Anti-Asian Subway Attack

NEW YORK CITY, NY – The New York City Police Department’s Hate Crime Task Force is investigating an aggravated harassment incident that took place on Saturday.

At around 12:15 pm, a 59-year-old woman boarded a southbound ‘Q’ train at Union Square-14th Street subway station. An unknown individual approached her and began making anti-Asian remarks, as well as threats to physically harm her.

The woman managed to exit the train and escape to safety. She did not sustain any physical injuries. The unknown individual stayed on the southbound train and left the area.

The NYPD is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the individual involved. The Hate Crime Task Force is leading the investigation into this matter.
