Ocean County Sheriff Leads Search for Lakewood Boy’s Missing Hearing Aid

LAKEWOOD, NJ – A boy playing at Lakewood’s Ocean County Park lost his hearing aid in the water and after the park was closed and park security ushered the boy and his family out of the park, a call was made to Ocean County Sheriff Michael Mastronardy.

Mastronardy orchestrated an agency search and recovery effort in the late hours after dark to recover the boy’s hearing aid. Mastronardy himself set up his command post near the lake and actively engaged in the search and rescue operation.

According to a report in the Lakewood Scoop, Mastronardy ordered the park to remain open during the search operation.

After about one hour of a search by sheriff’s officers and other volunteers, the hearing aid was found, by a metal detector.

Mastronardy cleared the scene of a successful operation.
