Off-duty NYPD employee arrested for petit larceny in Queens

QUEENS, N.Y. — An off-duty NYPD employee was arrested Wednesday afternoon in Queens on theft charges, police said.

Shari Smith, 35, a Police Administrative Aide with the NYPD, was taken into custody around 1:16 p.m. within the confines of the 105th Precinct.

Smith has been charged with petit larceny.

Details surrounding the incident leading to her arrest have not been released.

The NYPD has not commented on Smith’s current employment status as the investigation continues.
