Off-duty NYPD officer arrested on assault charge in Staten Island

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — An off-duty NYPD officer was arrested early Thursday morning in Staten Island and charged with third-degree assault, police said.

Nicholas Scorie, 26, was taken into custody at 5:36 a.m. within the confines of the 123rd Precinct. Authorities have not provided details about the circumstances of the alleged assault or the victim involved.

Scorie, a member of the NYPD, is now facing disciplinary proceedings in addition to the criminal charges. The NYPD stated that the incident is under internal review.

The arrest is the latest in a series of misconduct allegations involving off-duty law enforcement personnel this year.
