Off-duty NYPD school safety agent arrested in Bronx burglary and assault incident

BRONX, N.Y. — An off-duty New York City Police Department school safety agent was arrested early Sunday morning in the Bronx on multiple charges, authorities confirmed.

Nykia Ordonez, 42, was taken into custody at 4:41 a.m. by officers from the 43rd Precinct.

Ordonez faces charges including third-degree burglary, criminal obstruction of breathing, third-degree assault, and criminal mischief.

The circumstances leading to the arrest have not been disclosed, and no additional details about the incident have been released by the NYPD.

Ordonez is employed as a school safety agent, a civilian role within the NYPD responsible for maintaining security in the city’s public schools.
