Off-duty NYPD traffic agent arrested for assault in Queens

QUEENS, NY – An NYPD traffic enforcement agent was arrested early Sunday after a reported assault in Jamaica.

At about 2:52 a.m., police took 45-year-old Mohammad Islam into custody within the 103rd Precinct. Islam, who was off duty at the time, was charged with assault.

Details on the circumstances of the incident were not immediately released, and no injuries were disclosed.

The NYPD has not commented on the arrest.
