Off-duty Officer and Good Samaritans Rescue Two from Burning Vehicle

FARMINGVILLE, NY – Two individuals, a 45-year-old woman and a 41-year-old man, both from Coram, were rescued from a burning, overturned vehicle on County Road 83 in Farmingville.

The rescue, which took place early Saturday at about 5:20 a.m., involved Sixth Precinct Police Officer Kevin Farina, who was off-duty at the time, and two passersby who stopped to assist.

The vehicle caught fire as the rescue was underway and became fully engulfed. The victims are expected to make a full recovery.
