Officers Arrest Lynn Man on Firearm Charges after a Traffic Stop in Dorchester

DORCHESTER, MASSACHUSETTS – At about 12:30 AM on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) made an onsite firearm arrest of Matthew Davis, 33, of Lynn, MA.

While on patrol in the area Columbia Road and Ceylon Street when they observed a motor vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. Officers conducted a motor vehicle stop and after a CJIS query it was revealed that Matthew Davis did not have a valid drivers license and was placed under arrest. During the arrest, officers recovered a loaded Springfield Armory 1911-A1 45 caliber firearm with one round in the chamber and seven rounds in the magazine.

Matthew Davis was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Operating a Motor Vehicle Unlicensed. He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court
