Ohio County Felon Arrested for Possession of Illegal Gun

BOWLING GREEN, KYA federal grand jury has indicted an Ohio County resident on charges of illegal firearm possession, officials announced.

Christopher Phillip Saunders, 29, faces charges for possessing firearms as a convicted felon, following the indictment returned on March 13. The indictment reveals Saunders possessed a Taurus .40-caliber semiautomatic pistol, a Hermann Weihrauch .32-caliber revolver, a CBC .410-gauge shotgun, and ammunition on December 12, 2023.

Saunders’s criminal record includes felony convictions for drug possession, theft, wanton endangerment, and criminal mischief, which prohibit him from owning firearms. Following his arraignment, Saunders has been detained pending trial, facing a potential maximum sentence of 15 years in prison. Sentencing will be determined by a federal district court judge, considering guidelines and statutory factors. The federal system does not offer parole.
