Ohio fugitive arrested in akron after standoff — SWAT vehicle

AKRON, OH – Early yesterday morning, the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF) arrested 39-year-old Larry Francis Treitinger II, following a standoff in a home located on the 100 block of Doyle Ct.

Treitinger became the subject of a fugitive warrant after authorities discovered four firearms and various drugs, including cocaine, methamphetamine, and fentanyl, at his associated residence on July 3. This discovery led to the involvement of the NOVFTF in the fugitive investigation.

Upon locating Treitinger yesterday, as officers interacted with a woman at the home, he barricaded himself inside. The situation prompted the intervention of the Akron Police Department’s SWAT team. Treitinger eventually surrendered without further incident and was taken into custody at the front of the home.

U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott emphasized the importance of the arrest, noting, “Each illegal firearm taken off the streets and out of violent criminal’s hands works to ensuring a safer community in the city of Akron and all across northern Ohio.”
