Ohio Man Arrested for Assaulting Child in New Jersey

Warren County, NJ – A 44-year-old man from Zanesville, Ohio, has been charged with multiple offenses, including one that carries a potential life sentence, for allegedly sexually assaulting a child in Franklin Township, Warren County. County Prosecutor James Pfeiffer announced the charges in a news release on Wednesday.

Michael Eaton is accused of sexually assaulting the child on two separate occasions between 2019 and 2021. According to authorities, Eaton and the alleged victim were familiar with each other.

Eaton is facing charges of aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault, and endangering the welfare of a child.

The aggravated sexual assault charge is a first-degree offense under New Jersey’s Jessica Lunsford Act. If convicted, he could face a maximum penalty of life imprisonment and a minimum sentence of 25 years in New Jersey State Prison.
