Pleasant City man wins $50K prize on $1M Cashword scratch-off

Pleasant City, OH — A routine stop for drinks turned into a $50,000 payday for one Pleasant City man after he purchased a $1,000,000 Cashword scratch-off ticket on a whim.

Jason bought the $20 ticket at Buffalo Duchess #1210, located at 11830 Claypike Road, and later checked it at home using the Ohio Lottery’s mobile app. That’s when he realized he had hit the game’s second-tier prize worth $50,000.

After required federal and state tax withholdings, Jason will take home approximately $36,000. He said he plans to put the bulk of the winnings into savings while also paying down his mortgage.

The odds of winning the $50,000 prize in the $1,000,000 Cashword game are 1 in 666,666.

Buffalo Duchess, the retailer that sold the ticket, is recognized by the Ohio Lottery for being the point of sale of the winning scratch-off.
