Ohio Police Charge Man Who Accidentally Shot Himself

ROSS COUNTY, OH – A resident faced charges for discharging a weapon within city limits following a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The incident transpired on the evening of Monday, around 8 p.m. in Burbridge Ave, Chillicothe.

The man believed he heard signs of a break-in at his residence, leading him to retrieve his .38 special handgun.

As he assessed the situation, he accidentally discharged the firearm, injuring his hand. The man’s son subsequently took him to Adena hospital for treatment.

Though the man was found legally fit to own the firearm, he was charged for violating City Ordinance 549.12 concerning the discharge of firearms within the city.
