One Dead in Sunday Night Bronx Shooting

BRONX, NY – A 47-year-old man was found shot in his SUV on Popham Avenue and later pronounced dead at Saint Barnabas Hospital.

On Sunday at approximately 7:01 p.m., police arrived at 1480 Popham Avenue in response to a 911 call reporting a shooting. Officers found Jose Andres Rodriguez Gomez in the driver’s seat of his SUV, suffering from gunshot wounds to his torso.

Emergency Medical Services transported Rodriguez Gomez to Saint Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. The incident falls under the jurisdiction of the 46 Precinct, and as of now, no arrests have been made.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing. Rodriguez Gomez resided at 1500 Popham Avenue, just a short distance from the scene of the incident.

Police are urging anyone with information related to the case to come forward.
