One dead, another injured in shooting on Madison Street in Lower Manhattan

NEW YORK — A man was killed and another injured in a shooting Saturday evening in Lower Manhattan, police said. Officers responded to a 911 call at approximately 7:14 p.m. reporting an assault near Madison Street and Saint James Place, in the 5th Precinct.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. One man, whose identity has not yet been released, had been shot in the neck. A second man, 30, sustained a gunshot wound to the lower body. Both men were transported by EMS to NYC Health and Hospitals/Bellevue.

The man with the gunshot wound to the neck was pronounced dead at the hospital after being listed in critical condition. The 30-year-old victim remains in stable condition, according to police.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing. Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
