Over 7,000 Manchester homes to face brief scheduled power outages, JCP&L says

MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ – More than 7,000 residents in Manchester Township are expected to experience brief power outages as Jersey Central Power & Light conducts scheduled maintenance over a 24-hour period later this week.

According to Manchester Police, JCP&L has alerted 7,024 customers about two planned outages taking place between 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 2 and 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 3. The wide service window allows for preparation and breakdown work by utility crews, though each outage is expected to be short in duration.

The utility company issued reverse telephone notifications to all affected customers with outage details.

Local officials are advising residents to plan accordingly and take necessary precautions, especially those who rely on medical equipment requiring electricity.

Further updates are expected if timelines shift or if weather delays affect the planned work.
