Cambridge, MD – A 24-year-old Virginia man was arrested after police say he pulled a woman to the ground by her hair during an argument in Cambridge.

The Cambridge Police Department said the assault occurred on September 19 around 12:50 p.m. in the 100 block of Washington Street. Officers arriving at the scene spoke with the victim, who reported that Christopher Michael Orengo of Gladys, VA, had assaulted her while searching for a missing dog. According to police, Orengo allegedly grabbed the victim by the hair, causing her to fall to the ground.

Officers observed visible signs of injury and took Orengo into custody. He was transported to police headquarters for processing and later released on personal recognizance.

Orengo has been charged with second-degree assault.

Armed robber targets Dollar Tree employees in Hanover

HANOVER, MD – Two Dollar Tree employees were confronted at gunpoint late Sunday night as they left the store on Arundel Mills Boulevard, police said.

The robbery happened around 10:30 p.m. on September 28 at the Dollar Tree located at 7651 Arundel Mills Boulevard. Investigators said a Black male suspect approached the employees outside the store, displayed a handgun, and demanded cash.

The victims complied, handing over money from the business. The suspect fled the area before officers arrived. A search of the surrounding area did not locate him.

Cambridge, MD – A Shot Spotter alert sent officers rushing to Race Street after multiple gunshots rang out earlier this month, leaving shell casings scattered on the pavement but no victims in sight.

The Cambridge Police Department said the incident occurred on September 18 at about 8:16 p.m. when technology detected several rounds fired in the 1000 block of Race Street. Responding officers recovered six spent shell casings from a .40 caliber firearm along with a bullet fragment.

A witness at the scene reported hearing the gunfire and watching a black passenger car speed away from the area, telling investigators they believed the vehicle may have been the intended target.

Two suspects wanted for murder and kidnapping in North Bethesda

NORTH BETHESDA, MD – Police are searching for two men accused of killing a 29-year-old in a North Bethesda apartment and then kidnapping two others during the same incident.

The Montgomery County Department of Police announced that warrants have been issued for 18-year-old Joshua Collins and 25-year-old Justin Michael Greene Collins. Both men are wanted on charges of first-degree murder, two counts of kidnapping, and two counts of armed robbery.

The case stems from a September 21 incident inside an apartment in the 5900 block of Montrose Road, where 29-year-old Akwalabeng Fontava was shot and killed. Investigators say that after the shooting, a man and a woman were abducted and forced into a vehicle. The male victim was later released in Burtonsville, while the female victim was located inside a car at Westfield Montgomery mall with a third suspect.

That third suspect, identified as 37-year-old Sheldon Milan Boykins, was arrested and is being held without bond.
