Parsippany Man Arrested for DWI After Vehicle Ignites on Lawn

Parsippany, NJ — A Parsippany resident was arrested for driving while intoxicated (DWI) after his vehicle caught fire on a local lawn. Officers were called to a residence on Troy Road on March 10 at 6:15 PM, where they found a 2008 Nissan Sentra ablaze on the property’s front lawn. The District 6 Fire Department responded swiftly to extinguish the flames.

Nelson Cabrera, 45, the vehicle’s driver and sole occupant, was identified at the scene. An investigation revealed Cabrera was intoxicated and had driven off the road, leading to the vehicle’s undercarriage heating and igniting the lawn. Cabrera faced arrest and was taken to police headquarters for processing.

He received summonses for driving while intoxicated, refusal to submit to a breath test, and reckless driving. After processing, Cabrera was released to a family member and is expected to appear in court at a later date.
