Pasadena man wins $50K on scratch-off while standing in line at the bank
Baltimore, MD – A Pasadena man scored a $50,000 top prize on a Break the Bank scratch-off ticket while waiting in line at his local bank, turning a routine errand into a life-changing moment.
The Anne Arundel County house painter, a regular scratch-off player, had stopped at the Quick Save Mart located at 524 Defense Highway in Annapolis for lunch when he purchased the $5 ticket. He scratched it shortly afterward inside the bank and revealed the game’s top prize — the first $50,000 winner in the Break the Bank series.
The Maryland Lottery confirmed the man claimed his prize Monday at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. He stated he plans to use the winnings to pay down long-standing personal debts.
The Break the Bank game still has seven unclaimed top prizes of $50,000 and eight second-tier $5,000 prizes remaining. The Quick Save Mart retailer receives a $500 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
The $5 scratch-off game has seen a rise in popularity since its release, and the prize marks one of the largest recent instant wins for a Maryland player this month.
