Pedestrian in Critical Collision in Utica

UTICA, NY – A male pedestrian is in very critical condition following a car accident at the intersection of Genesee St and Shepherd Pl, according to a release from the Utica Police Department.

Responders from the Utica Fire Department transported the victim to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, where he was immediately taken to an operating room. He remains in critical condition at the time of this release.

Initial investigation revealed that the man was crossing Genesee St from east to west when he was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound. The Utica Police Department Accident Reconstruction Team is handling further investigation.

Genesee St was temporarily closed but has since reopened. The driver and her child passenger were unharmed. No tickets have been issued at this time, and further updates will be provided as available.
