Pedestrian struck and killed as Car crashed through bus stop

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD – The Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) is currently investigating a fatal pedestrian collision. The incident happened on Monday, on New Hampshire Avenue near Glenside Drive.

Takoma Park officers and Fire Rescue personnel received a report of a collision at midnight and attended the scene. Initial investigations show that a gray 2006 Nissan Pathfinder traveling south left the roadway for undetermined reasons. It drove through a bus stop shelter before stopping in a wooded area. The driver stayed at the scene.

Officers found an injured adult female who was later pronounced dead at the scene. The woman was identified as Christina E. Thomas, a 71-year-old with an unconfirmed address. It is currently unclear whether she was at the bus stop or in another location when the collision occurred.
