Pedestrian Struck and Killed on Pulaski Highway

BEAR, DE – Steven Wilkerson, 40, from Bear, Delaware, succumbed to injuries sustained in a pedestrian accident that occurred on the night of December 21.

The incident took place at around 7:52 p.m. near the Glenn Motel at 1176 Pulaski Highway. An orange 2016 Hyundai Veloster was traveling east in the left lane of Pulaski Highway as Wilkerson left the motel, walking north across the eastbound lanes. Tragically, he entered the path of the Hyundai and was struck.

Wilkerson was rushed to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and passed away the following day, December 22.

The Hyundai’s driver, a 50-year-old woman from New Castle, Delaware, was unharmed. The accident led to the closure of the eastbound lane of Pulaski Highway for about 2.5 hours for investigation and clearing operations.
