Pedestrian struck near St. Joseph’s Church in Toms River

TOMS RIVER, N.J. — Emergency personnel responded Saturday evening to a pedestrian struck by a vehicle in front of St. Joseph’s Church on Hooper Avenue, prompting a road closure and an active lifesaving response.

The incident occurred on the southbound side of Hooper Avenue near Dayton Avenue. Authorities confirmed that CPR was in progress on the scene as of the latest update.

Ocean County Sheriff’s Office reported the situation via their emergency communications, noting, “Toms River Hooper Avenue Southbound is shut down at Dayton and traffic is diverted down Dayton.”

The extent of the victim’s injuries has not been disclosed. Police and medical crews remain on the scene as of Friday night.

Drivers were advised to avoid the area due to heavy delays and the ongoing emergency activity.
