Perth Amboy fire department to host fire prevention open house

Perth Amboy, NJ – The Perth Amboy Fire Department will open its doors to the community next Friday with its annual Fire Prevention Week Open House at Fire Headquarters, offering families a chance to meet firefighters, tour fire trucks, and learn about home safety.

The event takes place October 10 from 6 to 9 p.m. at 375 New Brunswick Avenue. Activities include demonstrations, equipment displays, giveaways, and a visit from Sparky the Fire Dog, the department’s fire safety mascot. This year’s focus is on lithium-ion batteries, highlighting safe practices for their use inside homes.

Throughout October, recognized as Fire Prevention Month, firefighters will also visit city schools to deliver fire safety lessons to an average of 400 students each day.

The open house is supported by the City of Perth Amboy, Mayor Helmin Caba, the Fire Officers Association, and the Professional Firefighters Association.

Perth Amboy is charging ahead with fire safety education for all ages.
