DOVER, DE – A routine traffic stop early this morning led to the arrest of Franklin Roberson, 36, from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on charges of driving under the influence and possession of a concealed weapon.

Around 1:22 a.m., a Delaware State Police trooper patrolling the area near US-13 and Rose Bowl Road noticed a grey Jeep Grand Cherokee speeding southbound on US-13 without taillights. Upon stopping the vehicle and speaking with Roberson, the trooper detected signs of impairment and a strong odor of alcohol on Roberson’s breath. Field sobriety tests were conducted, resulting in Roberson’s arrest without incident.

During a subsequent inventory search of the vehicle before it was towed, a loaded handgun was found concealed between the driver’s seat and center console, along with an additional magazine hidden in the center console.
