CHELTENHAM, MD – A call to police regarding a suspicious suspect ended with a homicide arrest Saturday morning in Cheltenham.

A Philadelphia man is facing charges of attempted homicide after a violent altercation with police officers in Montgomery County early Saturday morning. According to a release from District Attorney Kevin Steele’s Office, the incident occurred at around 9 a.m. on Bridal Way in Cheltenham.

Upon arrival, a Cheltenham police officer located the man and attempted to engage him in conversation. However, the man, later identified as 27-year-old Calvin Yim, allegedly responded by punching the officer in the head and face.
