UTICA, NY — Police were called to a residence on the 1000 block of Mohawk Street last Thursday around 6:00 PM for a possible burglary. The resident reported that a male she recognized had entered her home and was hiding in a back hallway.

Upon arrival, officers encountered the man and noticed he was wearing a chest bag. When he saw the police, he retreated, discarding the bag. He soon re-emerged without it and was detained.

Officers examining the discarded bag felt an object resembling a handgun. A detailed check confirmed it contained a loaded 9mm handgun.

The suspect, identified as Timothy Cubbage, 34, from Utica, was subsequently arrested. He was taken to the Utica Police Department for further processing and charged in connection with the incident.
