Police arrest armed woman who fled in Mattapan

MATTAPAN, MA – On Wednesday, Carmen Perreira, 33, of Dorchester, was arrested on firearm-related charges following a response to a call at 40 Glenhill Road. Officers from District B-3 (Mattapan) were informed that a firearm had been displayed and that the suspect was attempting to flee the area.

Upon arrival, officers observed Perreira trying to flee in a motor vehicle. They quickly stopped her and placed her into handcuffs without incident. Officers were advised that Perreira no longer had the firearm in her possession.

After conducting a thorough investigation, officers retrieved the suspect’s backpack and immediately felt the presence of a firearm inside. The firearm was identified as a Smith and Wesson MOD 410.

Perreira was arrested and charged with assault by means of a dangerous weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm. She is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
