Police Arrest Dagsboro Man on Felony Drug Charges

Dagsboro, DE- Delaware State Police have detained John Rickards, 62, from Dagsboro, on numerous felony drug charges and possession of stolen property following a search of his residence.

The search took place Thursday, conducted by the Sussex County Governor’s Task Force and the Sussex County Drug Unit at a house located on the 32000 block of Dupont Boulevard. The search warrant was the result of a three-month investigation into Rickards for alleged involvement in criminal nuisance activities related to drug manufacturing and distribution. Nine individuals, including Rickards, were detained during the operation.

During the search, law enforcement uncovered approximately 197.02 grams of marijuana, 2.03 grams of cocaine, 2.85 grams of methamphetamines, and 0.12 grams of crack cocaine. Additionally, drug paraphernalia and digital scales, $641 purported to be from drug proceeds, a stolen John Deere Gator UTV, and several stolen power tools were found on the property.

Four of the nine detained individuals were arrested for misdemeanor charges and capias warrants, while the others were released. Rickards was transferred to Troop 4 and subsequently charged.
