CUMBERLAND, MD – Police in Cumberland were dispatched to a business early Christmas Eve morning to handle an incident involving a last-minute shopper who got a bit out of hand.

At approximately 4:16 a.m., Cumberland Police Department officers responded to a business on Virginia Avenue for a well-being check on Saturday.

Upon arrival, police contacted the staff, who reported finding a male subject lying on the floor inside the store. The subject was intoxicated and very uncooperative upon being contacted by officers.

“The subject was later identified as Stephon Morris, and began causing a disturbance and refused to listen to officers. Following Morris’ assault on one of the officers, officers attempted to arrest him, but Morris resisted and attempted to pull away from them,” the department said.
