Police Arrest Suspect in Schenectady Murder Case

SCHENECTADY, NY—An arrest has been made in a homicide investigation following the death of 49-year-old Renee Stratton.

Schenectady Police were called to a scene at 927 State Street early on July 21st, where Ms. Stratton was found unresponsive in room 121. Despite efforts by officers and paramedics, she was declared deceased shortly after their arrival. The death was considered suspicious and has since been classified as a homicide resulting from blunt force injuries.

Schenectady Police have announced the arrest of 40-year-old Corydon R. Carlton of Glens Falls, NY, who has been charged with second-degree murder, a Class A felony.

Mr. Carlton is currently being held at Schenectady County Jail.

The arrest marks a critical step forward in the case, providing some measure of relief to the community and the victim’s family as the investigation continues.
