Queens, NY – A 60-year-old MTA bus operator was assaulted in Jamaica on Saturday afternoon when an unidentified passenger unleashed pepper spray in his face, officials said.
The attack occurred around 3:50 p.m. on August 23rd at the corner of Liberty Avenue and Sutphin Boulevard as the driver was operating a Q6 bus. According to police, a female passenger became irate before discharging the chemical spray directly at the driver.
The suspect fled on foot and remains at large. She was last seen wearing a multicolored tank top with white pants, police said.
Emergency crews responded and treated the driver at the scene for eye irritation and pain. He did not require hospitalization.
No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
