Police end pursuit of carjacker who rammed officers before fleeing

GREENBELT, MD – On Wednesday, a carjacked vehicle was reported parked by the Greenbelt Branch Library. At around 2:56 pm, as Greenbelt Police officers entered the area, the suspect in the stolen vehicle, a light gray Toyota RAV4 (MD plate: 7CA7099), deliberately rammed two police cruisers before fleeing. No officers sustained injuries during the encounter.

Following a brief pursuit, police terminated the chase prioritizing public safety. The vehicle was last seen westbound on the outer loop of I-495 entering Montgomery County.

The Greenbelt Police Department first received a report about the carjacking on the previous day, Tuesday, at approximately 8:11 am. The incident took place at 141 Westway, where the victim reported being knocked to the ground by a man who then took her keys and stole her vehicle.
