GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP, NJ – A police presence at Reeds Road Elementary School during morning drop-off caused some concern in the community initially, but police quickly responded to inform residents about what actually happened.

“This morning at approximately 8:35 am, an incident occurred in the parking lot of Reeds Road Elementary School. An Officer of the GTPD initially conducted a motor vehicle stop at Reeds Rd. and Seminole Drive,” the department said. “After the initial contact, the driver fled the scene in her vehicle before she was again stopped, this time in the Reeds Road School drop-off area. The female driver was quickly apprehended and taken into custody. There was no student, faculty, or staff involvement.”

The department regrets that the incident happened on school property while children were present, but said it was unavoidable.

“Though it is never our intention to have an incident enter onto school property during school hours, this incident unfortunately did,” the department said. “The matter was handled as quickly as possible, as to minimize the impact on the students present at the time.”
