Police Investigate After Woman Attacked on Wilkes-Barre Boulevard

WILKES-BARRE, PA — The Wilkes-Barre City Police Department is currently investigating an assault that occurred early on the morning of June 18, 2024. According to police reports, the incident took place around 1:00 AM on South Wilkes-Barre Boulevard.

The victim, a 41-year-old white female from Wilkes-Barre, reported the assault at the city police headquarters. She recounted being struck in the face by a male known only as “John,” whom she described as behaving erratically at the time of the incident. The confrontation occurred after she advised John to cease his strange behavior, which then escalated to physical violence.

The suspect, described as a Black male in his mid-30s, fled the scene immediately after the assault. Authorities are currently seeking additional information and witnesses to help identify the suspect and provide further details about the incident.

The Wilkes-Barre City Police Department urges anyone with information related to this case to come forward to assist in the ongoing investigation. The department is committed to ensuring the safety and security of all community members and resolving this violent act swiftly.
