SOUTH RIVER, NJ – On Monday, officers from the South River Police Department were called to a residence on Marion Street due to a report of two loose dogs attacking another dog. At around 1:18 PM, officers reached the location and spotted a loose dog wandering on Marion Street.
The caller, who reported the incident, informed the officers that her pet dog had sustained injuries from the attack and needed medical treatment.
In response, Animal Control was contacted immediately.
Upon interacting with the residents, a neighbor arrived to claim the spotted dog and another one involved in the attack, stating that both dogs were his pets and had escaped from his fenced yard by digging a hole underneath.
Before departing, officers ensured that the loose dogs were appropriately secured.
The incident is under further investigation by the South River Police Department’s Humane Law Enforcement Officer in cooperation with the South River Animal Control Officer.
