Police Investigating Robbery at Newark Arby’s; Suspect at Large

NEWARK, Del. — Delaware State Police are investigating a robbery that occurred at an Arby’s in Newark on Saturday night, where a suspect used a chemical agent to incapacitate employees before stealing money from the business.

The incident took place on August 24, 2024, at approximately 9:50 p.m. at the Arby’s located in the Possum Park Mall. According to the investigation, an unidentified suspect entered the restaurant and immediately went behind the counter, where he sprayed a chemical agent on one of the employees.

The suspect then continued to use the chemical agent to subdue a second employee, forcing them into another area of the restaurant. The suspect subsequently accessed a safe and stole an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing the scene on foot.

Troopers conducted a search of the surrounding area but were unable to locate the suspect. The employees affected by the chemical agent sustained minor injuries but did not require hospitalization.

The Delaware State Police are continuing their investigation and have urged anyone with information about the robbery to contact them.
