Police Investigating Shooting in Downtown Silver Spring where 5 Businesses were struck by bullets

SILVER SPRING, MARYLAND – Detectives from the Montgomery County Police 3rd District Investigative Section are investigating an overnight shooting incident in downtown Silver Spring.
At approximately 2 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 13, an off-duty officer called out asking for officers to respond to the Society Bar on the 8000 block Georgia Ave. for a fight in progress. Moments later, the officer advised that there were shots fired near the area.
Detectives responded to the area of Bonifant St. and Georgia Ave., where five businesses were struck by bullets.
No one was injured or struck by stray bullets. Detectives are canvassing the area today and working with area business owners to review surveillance video and identify any suspects or witnesses.
