Police Respond to Reports of Armed Suspect in Severn Neighborhood, was licensed to carry

SEVERN, MD – The Anne Arundel County Police Department has been recently receiving multiple calls regarding an armed individual roaming public areas near school bus stops in a residential community.

The person has reportedly been conversing with children throughout the ordeal.

Despite the alarm, the individual in question is not a prohibited possessor, and the carried firearm is within the limits of Maryland’s open carry laws.

Officers have been deployed to the area to address the escalating concerns among students and parents. The Anne Arundel County Police Department maintains open communication lines with the Anne Arundel County Public Schools and the State’s Attorney’s Office.
