Police Say Reported Shooting in Ocean City Was Assault, No Shots Fired

OCEAN CITY, MD – Police in Ocean City responded to a shooting where it was alleged that a man was shot in the head near 144th Street. Upon arrival, police found no evidence of gunfire, but located a victim suffering from head trauma.

“The Ocean City Police Department is currently on the scene of a serious assault in the area of 144th Street. The victim was seen by Ocean City EMS and refused further medical treatment. This is an active investigation, and we will provide updates as they become available,” the department initially reported.

“OCPD received a call for possible shots fired at approximately 9:07 p.m. in the area of 144th Street. Upon arrival, officers located the victim who suffered from a head injury, not a gunshot wound as originally reported,” police later reported.
