Police search for gunman who opened fire after argument on N. Cassady Ave.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Columbus police are asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect who opened fire on a woman following a verbal altercation on Wednesday morning, striking both her vehicle and a nearby home.

Officers responded around 9:59 a.m. to the 2400 block of N. Cassady Avenue for a report of a person with a firearm. The victim told police the incident began with a verbal dispute and escalated when the suspect followed her in a vehicle and fired multiple shots at her at the intersection of N. Cassady Avenue and Cassady Lane.

Police said the gunfire shattered the rear window of the woman’s vehicle. At least one round struck an occupied home at the intersection, though no injuries were reported.

The suspect fled the scene in an early 2000s red or maroon Honda Civic with an unknown license plate number.

Detectives are seeking assistance in identifying the suspect shown in surveillance images released by the department.

“Detectives are seeking assistance identifying this pictured suspect,” police said in a statement on Facebook.
