Police Seek Suspect in Attempted Car Theft in D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Authorities are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect involved in an attempted vehicle theft in Northeast Washington.

On July 26, at approximately 10:30 a.m., a victim spotted the suspect in the driver’s seat of her SUV in the 600 block of 2nd Street, Northeast. When the victim yelled at him, the suspect backed the vehicle into a parked car before fleeing on foot.

The suspect was captured on surveillance camera.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact the police at (202) 727-9099 or text a tip to 50411. A reward of up to $1,000 is offered for information leading to the arrest and indictment of those responsible.
